Tech Trek Log – 2010.04.22
Just a quick update of metadata navigation in SharePoint 2010. With this new feature, it gives document libraries the flexibility to mix folders and metadata when designing structure in a site.
This has been one of the sticky points (mentioned in the blog post below) between choosing List Views over Folders to sort/filter items in a SharePoint library. Now Information Architects can accommodate both ways of organizing content since you have the ability to filter entries across multiple folder-levels. Also, it is nice that the upcoming release has the capability to apply filters to field types that was not previously supported in earlier versions i.e. Person/Group type and Choice that allows multiple selections.
Best of breed and welcome update indeed from Microsoft.
